Our eyes are blinded by the streets all dressed in white The silence is broken by church bells and passing time our thoughts are blinded by our words all dressed in lies Our hearts are broken by the first one to say goodbye We shivered in the sunlight afraid until the day we die I just knew that Violet by Boy In Static would be a special record, and it indeed is. It’s more than special. It’s splendid. Some people might feel that a record put together and composed in someone’s bedroom might be too much (I actually read a review that did indeed mention this), but I’m a big fan of the intimacy that it brings to the record, the creation process and the listening experience for the audience. Why not share music this way? Music should be emotional, personal, open and telling. Why keep any secrets? I love the fact that I feel as if I’m reading this person’s diary, it makes me feel special and makes the artist that much more real and relatable. If that’s too personal for some, then choose to close the book and have a listen to something else that might not be so emotionally loaded and rich in its special and unique manner. I personally choose to immerse myself further into the special qualities of Violet. I pretty much can’t go any further here without simply stating that I love this album (if you haven’t already gathered that much). I think it’s very special, and something about it just rang the right bell for me. It has a romantic and enchanting feel, and really, it’s just luscious. It’s powerful, emotional, raw and simply beautiful. It’s been awhile since a piece of music has had this much impact on me, sprinkling a special dust over my listening pleasures. This album brought with it a wind of inspiration for me, which is really a priceless phenomenon. I believe that it really takes a special quality to have that power and effect on the audience, where you’re able to take your creativity and make it contagious. The lyrics are magical, poetic and personal, and I applaud this. It’s very nice to see an artist who gives it their all, and is willing to share so much of himself with the world. The full record possesses an indescribable quality that makes it important, unique and just so Boy In Static. I felt like I was unlocking a secret vault that was filled with treasures…almost like hitting the jackpot…it’s just so genuine, raw and full of impact. I wish this record could and would go on forever. Oh look at that, I just set it on repeat. Again. And now for a general summary of what was discussed above… Lyrics: Beautiful, expressive, genius, emotional, honest, refreshing, and the list goes on… Music/Instrumentals: Fucking breathtaking. General Vibe: Haunting, obsessive (I can’t stop listening to this record), creative and fulfilling. Favourite Song: “Where It Ends”. It walks through me, starting at the toes and moves its way up, sending shivers up my spine in the process. Simply fabulous. In conclusion: A beautiful record that is worthy of your undivided attention, as it is a perfect shade of Violet courtesy of Boy In Static. The power of music is simply amazing. - Two Way Monologues |
