This one came through our submissions and it’s some dope music I gotta share with you all. Deru recently release his “Mini-Mini-Me” 7″, and on it he collaborates with rappers for the first time. Featuring two Bay Area giants whose work has inspired the downtempo instrumentalist: Casual (Hieroglyphics) and Gift of Gab (Blackalicious). Casual turns “Spliff” into a celebration of his preferred method of getting high while on “Bad Bad Man” Gift of Gab drops his characteristic deep-voiced tongue-twisters over a vicious beat. Deru needs to get these guys to work with him some more because these are some killer tracks. The production is on point with killer beats and the lyrics/flows the emcees are laying down couldn’t get much better. It’ll be interesting to see where Deru goes from here, be sure to be on the lookout for more tracks from him and check out his latest material. - Ivy League Spins |
