Foreign atmosphere enters your system as your Breathing Lessons begin. As this nightmarish voyage initiates you realize your worst nightmares have materialized and have been kept alive for this album. You grasp the idea you've awoke on an alien mothership, where the probes are restricted but your shoulders and head sway to and fro in the undulating layers of optimally pitched force field. The feelings that arise are not your own but the manipulated workings of two mad hatters, Mr. Echoes and the Isle of Weight. Their simulated planet, while it's a long way from their homeland of Chicago, doesn't get you so far with repeated exposure. "Whirlwind-Guardian" takes us to a fantastic rain forest where the chimes grow from the opulent soil, which upon further inspection isn't soil at all, but some type of frothy mush that causes your steps to be pelted with bounce. Within "Symbiotic" a translucent loop gets rethreaded, then cross- stitched over your airway, delaying your thought process and sedating your psyche. Just when it's too late, you recognize you've been stuck in some type of warp zone where the transitions come too late, and you are washed out in a current of breath. - 30 Music |
