This was bound to happen, we suppose. Steffaloo (aka Steph Thompson) seduced fans with little more than her emotive, airy vocals and spare guitar and ukulele parts on her 2012 full-length, “Would You Stay,” a beautifully fragile record that lays bare the heart of her songwriting. For her next act, Thompson goes full-on into the electronic legions who, to varying degrees and frequently to a fault, slather on production like face paint. Her new album “Heart Beats,” sees her partnering with the likes of Chrome Sparks, Stumbleine, Sun Glitters, Slow Magic and Moon Bounce for an all-electronic release, a continuation of the collaborative spirit that has seen her featured on releases by xxyyxx, Cosmic Oceans and Spiderwebbed. The new album’s first single, “Eyes For You,” is a Chrome Sparks number. - Buzz Bands LA |
