A Lull have been releasing dribs and drabs of material since 2009. Ice Cream Bones was released as an EP last May, and ever since, the sextet have been touring their butts off in order to hype up the release of their LP, Confetti. It is sure to drop some time later in the year. In the meantime, we have a video for the single, "Weapons For War," which we are told will debut on the upcoming LP.
Experimental music seems to be in high demand from almost everyone these days. Music lovers all over the world are finding themselves tired of verse/chorus/verse/chorus-laden tunes throughout their purchases, and as more people are getting involved in the live aspect of music, you can't blame them for wanting something special, can you? A Lull are a six-piece group who are becoming one of the hottest live acts in Chicago. Their frantic live sets are full of depth, pace and character. Any stage filled by six members, all pounding drums at the same time, is sure to turn some heads.
"Weapons For War" is a great starting point for any experimental lover needing a new flavor to try. Huge walls of percussion seem to fill every gap in the tune, leaving just enough space for some collective vocals and sparse melodic instrumentation. Think Animal Collective, Sigur Ros and The Knife skipping down the street together with a marching band, hanging onto their coattails. Very cool stuff. - In Your Speakers |
