Free-jazz horn blasts ring out with new vigor, drums hit a bit harder, and Pedro continues to forge new elements into his song craft, even raising the ghosts of Liquid Liquid and A Certain Ratio on a track or two. | 'You Me and Everyone' is the sort of album that should be high on the shopping lists of alot of Warpmart customers this year. The energy and colour of this collection of tracks, recorded over a two year period is completely infectious and unique, mixing up live instruments, especially complex jazz drumming, with Pedro's love of Steve Reich-like minimalism, sharp programming and edits, into an original riot of colour and joy, one part school jazz band, one part attention deficit disorder producer, one part minimal composer with a feel for bright snatches of melody. The only comparison I can reach is Four tet at his craziest, mixing it up with Chris Clark, but even that falls a little short. Probably one of the most entertaining electronica albums in a while, certainly one of the most joyfully genre spanning. - Warpmart |
