Fisk Industries has blatantly been reared on a diet of the highest quality electronica around, and the 77 And Rising EP is the best yet for the producer. “Reflection” kicks off proceedings nicely with a display of crunchy hip hop beats and warm, textured sounds that recall the ingenious wizardry of Buddy Peace if he were remixing acclaimed producer Fennesz. “Moieties (Part One)” and “(Part Two)” are fairly laid-back ambient affairs, with the first offering gentle synths and Germanic repetition. The second part touches upon Yellotone circa 2001 with crunchy beats, playful synths and spoken word samples. And then to make things even more interesting, EP closer “Polska” turns all Bitstream on us, with menacing atmospheric sounds and stabs of acid synths. 77 And Rising introduces nothing new as such into the realms of electronica, but Fisk Industries is such a talented producer that all of the tracks included are superior quality. He also incorporates everything from hip hop, electronica, techno and ambience which makes this a really varied and stimulating listen. A must-have quality purchase. – Angry Ape |
