Thavius Beck is back once again with Amber Embers Volume 3 -- eschewing the slower and more pensive elements of his full-length albums in favor of DJ friendly tracks that are nonetheless diverse and untied to any specific genre. “De La Hoya” embodies an energetic disco inspired rhythm with chopped and screwed beat boxing thrown in the mix. The powerful guitar riffs and high speed drum beats give “Gitmo Guitar” a competitive and edgy sound. "Blown Away" is surging drum and bass, anchored by a upward-moving chord progression that's embellished by synth manipulation that mimics Bollywood caterwauling. A soulful take on vocals smoothed over tripped out space beats and cut up piano make “Loner” a dark, down-tempo masterpiece. Thavius Beck once again gives a lesson in how to manage and mangle the pervasive sounds of the underground.
